It's startling sometimes to find the place you've lived in nearly your entire life so strangely, wonderfully full of beauty. Growing up, the natural world claimed very little of my interest. People and the things people made were paramount. And that may be true for most of us raised in a culture that lionizes productivity and the status it can buy. 

Was this always here? Always.

Does time mean something different now? Always.

A bird, a lizard, a fence all want different things. Each of us clings to the idea that we can have it all. But what do you really want, if you can't have it all?
